The federal government's Economic Coordination Committee (ECC) has approved a Rs300 million supplementary grant for the Capital Development Authority (CDA). The funding will cover essential repair and maintenance work at the Prime Minister's Office and the Prime Minister's Staff Colony during FY2026–27. The approval followed a proposal submitted by the Ministry of Interior.
Why This Is a Maintenance Grant and Not a New Project
The grant is for repair and maintenance of existing buildings. It does not represent a new housing development or a commercial property investment opportunity. The reports we have seen do not list the specific repairs, the number of buildings or the cost per building, so the Rs300 million should not be read as a figure for any particular scheme.
Why a Supplementary Grant Is Needed
A supplementary grant is money approved in addition to the existing budget. The reports say it covers FY2026–27 and followed a proposal from the Ministry of Interior, but they do not explain why the amount was not in the original allocation. We have not assumed a reason.
Why It Fits the CDA's Wider Workload
The CDA is carrying a large programme of construction and enforcement work in the capital, including the Kashmir Chowk Underpass and the proposed cricket stadium near D-12. This grant is separate from those projects and is for upkeep of existing government premises. The reports do not suggest a link.
What This Means for Readers
The allocation supports maintenance of government buildings and residential infrastructure in Islamabad, and is unlikely to change conditions in the capital's property market. Those following public spending in Islamabad can use it as one example of how the CDA is funded for work beyond new development. Updates on CDA funding and projects are published by the CDA and the Finance Division.
