The Federal Government Employees Housing Authority (FGEHA) has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Smart City Housing Lahore to develop a residential project of approximately 750 kanals on Multan Road, Lahore. The agreement was first reported on October 28, 2026. It was signed in the presence of FGEHA Director General Zafar Iqbal. It is an MoU. Construction start, the number of housing units, prices and possession dates have not been announced.
The project will follow an End-Product/Turnkey Model, under which the private partner is expected to deliver the agreed residential development. The reports we have seen do not say what the agreed development is, how the costs and land are divided, or who owns the land. We therefore describe the model only as stated.
The FGEHA says the initiative is meant to expand housing opportunities for federal government employees living in Lahore. The reports do not say whether any part of the project will be open to the general public, or how employees will be selected and allotted plots or units.
Approximately 750 kanals is about 93.75 acres (our own calculation, at eight kanals to an acre). The reports do not say how many plots or apartments it will hold, so we do not estimate capacity. Land development in Lahore is regulated by the Lahore Development Authority, but the reports do not say what approvals the project has or still needs.
The reports do not give the project's name, its approvals, its cost, the timetable or the payment plan. They also do not say whether the land is already in the partner's hands. We do not describe any of these.
The agreement could increase planned residential supply in Lahore and widen housing options for eligible government employees. It is another public-private housing initiative by the FGEHA. These benefits depend on the project being approved and built, and the reports do not link it to land prices on Multan Road.
Federal employees in Lahore should wait for official FGEHA announcements on eligibility, pricing and registration, and should not pay anyone on the strength of the MoU. The signals to watch are the final agreement, development approvals, the opening of registration, a published payment plan and a construction timetable.
