The Lahore Development Authority (LDA) has sealed 42 properties during a fresh enforcement operation targeting unauthorised commercial activities and outstanding commercialisation fees. The operation was reported on October 21, 2026. It was conducted under the supervision of Chief Town Planner-I Asad-uz-Zaman, following directions from LDA Director General Tahir Farooq. Provincial announcements are published by the Government of the Punjab.
| Area | Properties sealed |
|---|---|
| Faisal Town | 15 |
| Shadman-I | 12 |
| Main Multan Road and Defence Road | 15 |
| Total | 42 |
The three areas total 42 properties (our own check of the reported figures). The reports we have seen do not say how the Main Multan Road and Defence Road figure splits between the two roads. They also do not name any owner or business, and we do not name any.
Affected properties included restaurants, marquees, marble stores, private schools, workshops, showrooms and offices. The reports do not say how many of each type were sealed, or which were sealed for unauthorised use and which for unpaid commercialisation fees. We therefore cannot say what share of the 42 were sealed for each reason.
A residential plot that is used commercially generally needs approval for the change of use, and the owner pays a fee for it. The operation targeted both unauthorised commercial use and outstanding fees. The reports do not give the amounts owed or say what owners must do for a seal to be lifted, so we do not describe the steps.
The action directly affects commercial property owners, landlords and businesses operating in buildings without appropriate commercial-use approvals. Owners may face business disruption and additional compliance costs. Buyers and tenants should check a property's approved land use and any outstanding commercialisation fees before buying or leasing it. The signals to watch are further LDA operations, the process for unsealing, any deadline for paying fees and any court challenges by affected owners.
