The Federal Government Employees Housing Authority (FGEHA) has distributed allotment letters to 38 affected allottees of Sector G-15/3, Islamabad, after recovering 132 kanals of government land through an anti-encroachment operation, according to Bloom Pakistan, published 7 August 2026. The ceremony was held on the directions of FGEHA Director General Captain (retd) Zafar Iqbal, with MNA Anjum Aqeel Khan attending as chief guest.
How the Land Was Recovered
The anti-encroachment operation was carried out under the supervision of Deputy Commissioner/Land Acquisition Collector Almas Sabeeh Saqib and Director Land and Enforcement Lt. (retd) Saad Bin Asad. FGEHA used the recovered 132 kanals to resolve plot-related issues for the 38 allottees, adjusting their allotments against the newly cleared land. Sabeeh Saqib said the letter distribution marked a step toward fulfilling commitments made by FGEHA leadership, and that the authority would continue prioritising transparency, merit, and timely development.
Part of a Longer G-15/3 Encroachment Saga
This isn't FGEHA's first encroachment action in Sector G-15/3. In December 2025, the Associated Press of Pakistan reported that FGEHA had already retrieved 65 to 70 kanals in the same sector under DG Zafar Iqbal's directives, demolishing 12 illegally constructed houses in the process. That earlier operation was framed as clearing obstacles to development work rather than immediately resolving allottee claims — meaning this August's larger 132-kanal recovery appears to build directly on that December groundwork, with the allotment-letter distribution representing the payoff allottees had been waiting for.
The land-possession problem in G-15/3 goes back further still. Dawn reported in 2023 that land possession issues in Sector G-15/3 were a recurring complaint among FGEHA allottees frustrated by delays, contrasting the authority's pace unfavourably with private housing schemes that "efficiently provide possession to plot owners within a couple of years." That report quoted an FGEHA official acknowledging the projects had stalled in the past, while noting that DG Zafar Iqbal had begun taking strict notice of delays after his appointment.
Why This Matters for FGEHA's Broader Reform Push
The G-15/3 recovery lands amid a wider pattern of FGEHA activity through 2026. Dawn reported in April that FGEHA — under the same DG — signed joint-venture agreements for new housing projects in Murree and on Chakri Road, Rawalpindi, even as some of its older Islamabad sector projects, including Kashmir Avenue Apartments, remained stalled and under fresh committee review as of August 2026. Taken together, the pattern suggests FGEHA is simultaneously working through a backlog of legacy land-possession and encroachment disputes on older sectors while expanding into new joint-venture territory.
What This Means for Allottees
Allottees with pending plot or possession disputes in FGEHA sectors — particularly G-14 and G-15 — should watch for similar anti-encroachment operations as a precursor to allotment-letter distribution, based on the G-15/3 pattern.
