National Grid Pakistan and Punjab's Environmental Protection Agency have reportedly scheduled a public hearing on November 10, 2026, on the environmental assessment of a major transmission corridor, according to a property-news report published on November 4. The hearing is about six days after the report (our own calculation). The report is our only source, and we have not seen the official hearing notice. A hearing on an environmental assessment is a step in the approval process. It is not an approval.
What Was Reported
The report says a public hearing is scheduled for November 10 and concerns the environmental assessment of the corridor. The project could affect land use, construction and electricity infrastructure along its route. The report as we have it does not name the project, give the route, the voltage or length, or say where the hearing will be held. We do not state any of those. Environmental matters in Punjab are handled by the Punjab Environment Protection Department.
What Is Not Known
It is not known which districts the corridor would cross, how much land it would need or whether landowners have been notified. It is also not known what the assessment concludes or when construction might start. Power sector policy is published by the Power Division. We make no prediction on the outcome of the hearing.
Why This Matters for Property
The route of a transmission corridor can limit what can be built on land near it and may involve land acquisition. Because the route has not been reported, no area can yet be said to be affected, and no effect on land values has been established.
What This Means for Landowners and Developers
Landowners and developers who think they could be near a major line should find the official hearing notice and, if they can, attend or submit comments. The signals to watch are the published notice with venue and route, the assessment report, the outcome of the hearing and any land acquisition notices.
