The government has announced a fuel-price revision that cuts petrol by Rs5.45 per litre, from Rs374.51 to Rs369.06, effective November 4, 2026, according to reports published on November 3. Fuel prices are notified by the Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA). The petrol figures below are those reported. Our own check confirms that Rs374.51 less Rs5.45 equals Rs369.06.
Petrol
The reported petrol price falls from Rs374.51 to Rs369.06 per litre from November 4. The reports we have seen do not explain the cut, and we do not give a reason.
Diesel
Reports also mention a Rs3.68 adjustment in the price of high-speed diesel. The published accounts conflict over whether diesel went up or down by that amount, so we do not state the direction or the new diesel price. The final rate should be taken from the official notification. Petroleum policy is published by the Petroleum Division.
What Is Not Known
The reports do not give the new diesel price, the prices of other fuels or how the new rates compare with earlier notifications in the past few days. We therefore do not describe a trend. They also do not say how long the new rates will stay in force.
Why This Matters for Property
Fuel prices affect the transport of construction materials, contractor logistics, machinery operations and infrastructure project costs. A lower petrol price may offer modest relief, but the overall effect on construction depends heavily on diesel prices and other inputs. There is no verified evidence yet of a resulting reduction in cement, steel or property prices.
What This Means for Builders and Households
Builders should look to the diesel price, not petrol, when judging their transport and machinery costs. Households that commute by car or motorbike save only a small amount per litre. The signals to watch are the confirmed diesel price in the official notification, the next fuel revision and supplier quotations for cement and steel.
