Bahria Town Karachi has announced a new RFID-based entry and exit system, effective November 1, 2026. The announcement was reported on October 14. Under the new rules, residents must present valid Resident Information System (RIS) cards to enter without paying a fee. Commercial property owners and businesses will need Commercial Information System (CIS) cards. The arrangements are intended to improve security and regulate access to the society. Notices from the society are published by Bahria Town, and provincial matters by the Government of Sindh.
Why the Card Type Decides the Fee
Residents with valid RIS cards enter without paying a fee. Commercial property owners and businesses need CIS cards. Visitors without valid cards will have to pay an applicable entry fee. The reports we have seen do not state the amount of the fee, whether it varies by vehicle, or how long a payment remains valid. Until the society publishes a fee schedule, we cannot say what visitors will pay.
Why Guest and Staff Registration Matters
Residents can register authorised guests in advance. Domestic workers and business employees must also be registered. The reports do not say how registration will be done, what documents are needed, or whether there is a cost. They also do not say what happens to a guest or worker who is not registered by November 1. Residents and businesses will therefore need the society's detailed instructions.
Why Access Rules Matter to Property
Entry rules affect everyday life for residents and tenants, and the running of businesses inside the society. Security and access arrangements are one of the things buyers and renters look at when choosing a society. The reports do not say that the rules will change property prices or rents, and we do not claim any such effect.
What This Means for Residents, Tenants and Businesses
Residents and tenants should check that their cards are valid and register regular guests and domestic workers before November 1. Business owners should confirm CIS card requirements for themselves and their staff. Visitors should expect to pay the entry fee unless they hold a valid card or have been registered in advance. The signals to watch are the society's fee schedule, the card issuing process and any grace period announced before the start date.
