Karachi Industrial Park has reportedly received approval as a federal Special Economic Zone (SEZ) under investment-facilitation initiatives involving the Special Investment Facilitation Council (SIFC), according to a state-radio report of November 4, 2026. The report is our only source for the approval, and we have not seen an official notification. The report does not establish a construction start date or any confirmed new investor commitments.
What Was Reported
The project is intended to offer port connectivity, developed infrastructure and incentives for export-oriented industries. The report as we have it does not say which body granted the approval, on what date, or what incentives the zone will carry, so we do not state them. SEZ policy and incentives are handled by the Board of Investment, but the report does not say what part it played here.
What Is Not Known
The report does not give the park's size, its developer, the investment required or the number of plots. It also does not say how this approval relates to earlier reports on SEZ plans in Karachi, so we do not treat it as a separate project. We make no estimate of when work might start.
Why This Matters for Property
SEZ status could encourage industrial investment, warehousing, logistics facilities and associated commercial development near the park. That depends on investors committing, which has not been reported. No effect on land or lease prices has been established.
What This Means for Investors and Industry
Industrial investors should ask for the official notification and the incentive terms in writing before relying on SEZ status. The signals to watch are the published notification, the developer's timetable, named investors and the first plot allocations.
